New Philips Digital Pocket Memo Firmware version, v3.92(b001), is available now

Philips announced the New Updated Digital Pocket Memo Firmware

A new firmware version has been released for the Philips Digital Pocket Memo (DPM) III series of professional dictation devices. The new firmware version, v3.92(b001), is available now and is a replacement for all previous firmware versions.

This firmware update applies to the following models:
  • Digital Pocket Memo 9600 series
  • Digital Pocket Memo 9500 series
  • Digital Pocket Memo 9370
  • Digital Pocket Memo 9380
Recent Enhancements:

256bit DSS real time encryption strength now available
With this new encryption option, users are able to choose from three levels of security: none,
128bit or 256bit real time encryption. Philips SpeechExec Pro Dictate or SpeechExec Pro
Transcribe software version 7.1 or higher is required to handle 256bit encrypted files. For
backwards compatibility with previous transcription software versions the default setting of
128bit must be used.

Configurable auto backspace
In order to allow users the ability to work as quick and efficient as possible, a configurable auto
backspace feature lets the user select a backspace interval of up to four seconds. The option
can be configured directly through the device Menu of the DPM, so users can adjust the time to
their different preferences

Issues Resolved:

Device freezes
In some cases the contents of the RAM component can become corrupt. This can create
various effects; one of them is a frozen/locked-up device.

Filename instead of Author
With the introduction of version v3.91 b005, the default setting for the string displayed in the
bottom area of the display changed from ‘author’ to ‘filename’. The default setting is now set
back to ‘author’.

In case after FW update the DPM display shows still file name instead of author name, please
change the setting by the help of the SpeechExec software (Release 6.0 or higher).

Prior to Update:

If you are performing an upgrade from v1.00(b002) and have activated the “Protect device”
configuration by means of the SpeechExec software, make sure to disable the
“Protect device” configuration checkbox before you start the upgrade.

Please insure you have fully charged batteries installed in the DPM before performing the
update, or have the power supply (LFH 9146) attached to the DPM.

Firmware upgrade:

Customers may obtain the new DPM firmware from following sources below

SpeechExec auto firmware update:
To receive the latest firmware update from within SpeechExec attach the DPM to the
computer, wait for SpeechExec to recognize that it is connected, and go to "General Settings" >
"Updates" > "DPM firmware" and click on the "Check Now" button. The firmware upgrade will be
copied to the DPM. When copying has finished you will be asked to disconnect the DPM. Do
not switch off the device. The DPM will update itself.
You should format the memory of the DPM once the firmware has been successfully updated
using the format feature found under the Menu settings of the device. Make sure there are no
dictations on the DPM before formatting.
