Philips SpeechExec 8.6 Released!

SpeechLive Stage IV includes the browser-based Dictation Manager and SpeechExec 8.6!

SpeechExec 8.6 contains some adaptations for the dictation manager, and some improvements like the secure front-end speech recognition window, the extraction of spoken instructions from digital (DPM) dictations, as well as enhanced notification options for transcriptions. It also implements some features to make SpeechExec users more aware about the latest SPS developments. This includes advertising after installation, dynamic banners and links in the SpeechExec wizard and in the SpeechLive configuration dialog as well as a new “Discover more” button in the SpeechExec toolbar.

OVERVIEW:

ENHANCED DRAGON NATURALLYSPEAKING SUPPORT:

Support for Dragon 13 SpeechExec Pro 8.6 has been tested to support Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13 Professional. 

EXTRACT SPOKEN INSTRUCTIONS FROM DIGITAL (DPM) DICTATIONS - It is now possible to extract spoken instructions from digital (DPM) dictations and display them in the work list as “special instruction”. As a result the spoken instructions will not be recognized during backend speech recognition and the transcriptionist is able to listen to the instruction from the work list before she opens the dictation for correction.

SECURE FRONT-END SPEECH RECOGNITION WINDOW -The front-end recorder window can now be configured to automatically save the dictations from the beginning of the dictations onwards.

IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE SPEECHSCRIBE TRANSCRIPTION SERVICE: 

Recall Dictations

From SpeechExec 8.6 onwards we implemented a dedicated “Recall from transcription service” command enabling the user to recall accidentally sent dictations from the TS for 2 minutes after sending. That avoids confusion with the previously used “take over dictations” feature which is used in standard network installations when one transcriptionist wants to take over a suspended dictation from another one.

ENHANCED DPM 8000 SERIES WIZARD - With the enhanced DPM wizard users can now easily set up their DPM8000 series devices to selectively send dictations to the transcription service. As a result the DPM8000 series will provide the option to change the delivery setting with the right hand smart button.

IMPROVED NOTIFICATION:

FILTERED NOTIFICATION - SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 8.6 includes the option to filter notifications according to the transcriptionist’s preferences. This avoids unintended interruptions and puts the focus on the important things to do.

Practical examples:
Author notification in shared folders: Michele works in a typist pool which is using a shared folder for all authors’ dictations. Even though every typist is able to write all dictations Michele shall preferably write for a specific author. She only wants to be notified when this author has created a new dictation.

Notification on specific work types:  Allison is working in a law firm. She is specialized in writing Merger & Acquisition (M&A) documents which have a specific work type ID. In case of workload peaks in the company she also needs to write for other departments, but only if no M&A document is available. Therefore she wants to be notified if a new M&A document has arrived so that she can immediately transcribe the M&A dictation.

SpeechExec 8.6 provides opportunities to discover more about Philips’ speech processing solutions. Users can find out more about SPS solutions after the setup, in the SpeechLive and SpeechScribe configuration dialogs, as well as from the SpeechExec work list with the new “Discover more” button. We have also adapted the SpeechExec end-user license agreement which enables  us to keep new end-users informed via email about new products and updates

SPEECH RECOGNITION CONNECTOR LICENSE INCLUDED IN ALL SE PRO PRODUCTS

From SpeechExec Pro 8.6 onwards all SpeechExec Pro products include the Dragon speech recognition connector license. The products include the so-called “Combi” licence which unlocks all functions of SpeechExec Pro with a single license key. 

NEW SPEECHLIVE FOLDER SETTINGS

We introduced a new option to set the refresh interval of SpeechLive folders and added the option to disable the automatic background refresh of archive folders (by default the automatic refresh of archive folders is switched OFF). Especially for customers with large archives this significantly reduces unnecessary data traffic between SpeechExec and the SpeechLive system and it dramatically improves the system performance.

AUTOMATIC UPDATES

• Automatic updates for SpeechExec 4.x, 5.x, 6.x are not available!

• Mixed environments of SpeechExec Pro 8.6 and SpeechExec Pro 5.x and 6.x installations are NOT SUPPORTED!

UPGRADE SPEECHEXEC 7.5 TO SPEECHEXEC 8.6

SpeechExec Pro 7.5 can be upgraded with the by downloading the latest SpeechExec version from

the Speech Processing Solutions support are or by Clicking Here.

For already activated SpeechExec 7 licenses the license will be reused.

Note: automatic updates from version 7.0 and 7.1 are not enabled.

For upgrading to version 8.6 we strongly recommend to uninstall SpeechExec 7.0/7.1 (with the option

to keep the SpeechExec settings) and run an installation of SpeechExec 8.6 afterwards.

SPEECHEXEC 8.X TO SPEECHEXEC 8.6

SpeechExec Pro 8.x can be updated with the built in (automatic) update function of SpeechExec.

For already activated SpeechExec 7 licenses the license will be reused. 

Go to General Settings  Updates and click on ‘Check Now’.
