UI Redesign & Ads implementation
With the new version of the Philips Dictation Recorder for Android version 2.6 we now
aligned our design with the Philips App guidelines. All screens have been adapted to
the new blue/green style which is also used in our SpeechLive solution. The icons have
been reworked to be clear and easy for every user.
In addition, we have added banners that show ads for our SpeechLive solution. Those
banners are arranged in a way that they do not interfere with the normal way of
working, avoiding them to disturb the dictation workflow.

Easier Dictation Selections
The new dictation selection process makes it much more intuitive to delete or send
multiple dictations. Simply swipe the dictation to the right and you will see check-boxes
appear. Then you can select which dictations you want to select and what the action
should be.
New Quick Start Guide
In June 2014 we launched our Blackberry10 App introducing the first Quick Start Guide
for our application. In Februar we followed this path with our iOS Application, and now
we proceed this way with Android. This Quick Start Guide briefly explains the App
functionalities and recommends our Philips SpeechLive solution as the preferred
backend solution. The customer can immediately set up a 30-days trial and start to take
advantage of the services that SpeechLive offers.
Limit free usage to 30 days
With version 2.6 we will not support free usage beyond the 30 days trial anymore. This
means that the customer has 30 days to test the Philips Dictation Recorder with all its
benefits and backend options, but has to decide for one of our services after 30 days.
Within these 30 days the customer will receive a reminders about the runtime of his
trial.

Reminders:

1 day before expiration:
The customer receives the second popup
message. A link is also included

After expiration of the trial:
As soon as the 30 days trial of the app
has expired, the customer will not be
able to send the dictation via email
anymore. There will be a popup
informing him about the expiration of
the trial. Now he has to sign up for one
of our professional backend workflows.
Set editing mode:
Previously, when the user wanted to insert, overwrite or append parts of his dictation,
he received a pop-up message asking him which insert mode he wanted to use. The
newly implemented edit feature allows him to set a default edit mode, preventing him
from getting out of his natural dictation flow. This setting is now also no longer linked
to the “Push to talk”-function.
Improved setting headers:
One feedback we got back from our customers was, that the setting headers were not
visible enough and did not stand out that well. We improved this by changing the font
used in the application and by writing the headers in capital letters.
Dictation Upload can be canceled:
In the past it was possible to pause the upload of the audio file, but it was not possible
to cancel it. We have now changed the button to cancel, which makes much more
sense in this process.
Rename SpeechDrive to SpeechLive
In the past versions we used the term “SpeechDrive” to describe the cloud-storage of
the SpeechLive system. This caused some confusion and was not transparent for the
customer. Therefore we terminated the “SpeechDrive” term and renamed it to
“SpeechLive”.
SpeechLive status bar leads to the speechlive configuration
With the introduction of SpeechLive we also implemented the SpeechLive status
bar, which indicates the current connection status to the SpeechLive server. As
long as the customer has not configured any sending option he will be invited to
configure SpeechLive via the status bar. Previously it was not possible to select
the status bar and get forwarded to the settings – this was now changed.
E-Mail sending always optional
After the user has selected one of our professional backend solutions he can still
enable e-mail sending in the forwarding options. If enabled, the user will have his
professional sending options and the email sending option available.
Display title of recording in SpeechExec title column
Another customer request that we received was to display the recording title in the
“Title” column in SpeechExec. This has now been implemented when using SpeechLive.
Barcode scanner SDK
With 2.6 we also implemented the barcode scanner SDK. The user can now also scan
Barcode which automatically is written into the barcode-property.
Implementation of Google Analytics
Knowing the customer is essential to deliver the best product.
Until now we had a hard time measuring user feedback our, as we had no tool which
could help us analyze customer behavior. Google Analytics offers us a perfect overview
without having any personalized information about the customers. This tool will help to
enhance our dictation apps based on customer behavior.
Google Analytic Reporting can be turned off in the “Help” section.
