New Product Announcement: Philips SpeechExec Version 10 Release with Dragon Software Development Kit in 6 Languages


 HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS RELEASE 

 COMPLETE SPEECH-TO-TEXT WORKFLOW SOLUTION INTEGRATES THE LATEST DRAGON PROFESSIONAL GROUP SDK 
All new 'PSE' type SpeechExec products come with the latest Dragon Professional Group SDK integrated. Dragon Professional Group SDK enables authors to work standalone, but also in collaboration with their assistants to gain the maximum possible efficiency with speech recognition. With the roaming profile option users can work from home, or on the move, even in conjunction with the SpeechLive cloud-based dictation workflow where assistants would queue-in dictations from SpeechLive folders. 

 6 AVAILABLE DRAGON LANGUAGES + THEIR ACCENTS 
SpeechExec 10 'PSE' type products include 6 Dragon languages and their accents: English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, and Spanish. The integrated Dragon SDK is perfectly made for general correspondence, but it can be easily adapted according to individual requirements with the built in adaptation tools. Further context enhancements and implementing specialized vocabularies can be done by the certified Philips partner. 

 EFFICIENT AND SECURE WORKFLOW 
Using SpeechExec with the Dragon SDK makes the speech recognition workflow more secure and efficient. Author based and/or work type based templates can automatically fill in meta data from any Philips dictation source avoiding wrong assignments of documents. The built-in delegated correction relieves the authors from administrative work and avoids that misheard words are overlooked by them. They only have to concentrate on new dictations and get back completely corrected and formatted documents by their personal assistants. The personal assistants can simply correct documents in the correction editor with foot control support and export the finalized documents into a predefined network folder. New words can be easily added to the author's profile with the built in adaptation features.

 MOBILE USE WITH SPEECHLIVE CONNECTION 
Together with SpeechLive SpeechExec 10 supports the necessity for mobile use. Whenever authors are on the move and using the Philips dictation recorder smartphone app or the Philips SpeechAir, they can send the dictations via SpeechLive to their personal assistant. With SpeechExec Pro Transcribe, the personal assistant can then queue-in the dictations for Dragon speech recognition and send the completed documents to the authors.

 FRESHER LOOK AND FEEL NEW APPLICATION ICONS AND SPLASH SCREENS 
SpeechExec 10 comes with completely new application icons and splash screens. The 'X' represents the excellence that SpeechExec has reached over the years. Note: it does not represent the version number The new application icons and splash screens also display the edition the user is currently working with: 
The blue icon represents all SpeechExec 'Standard' executions. It is used for SpeechExec Dictate and SpeechExec Transcribe. 
The orange icon represents all SpeechExec 'Pro' executions. It is used for SpeechExec Pro Dictate and Pro Transcribe. 
The red icon represents all SpeechExec 'Enterprise' executions. It is used for SpeechExec Enterprise Dictate, Transcribe, Enterprise Manager, Workflow Manager, Statistics Module, and License Manager.

 SIMPLIFIED SETUP LESS BUTTON CLICKS
In SpeechExec 10 we could dramatically reduce the number of clicks that are required to install the application. Unnecessary options and dialogs have been removed, or moved to the New User Wizard. Even the installation of the Dragon SDK is done with a minimum of interaction. Other required setup options, like the recognition of the setup language are now pre-filled making the whole setup process smoother and hassle free.

 ALL LANGUAGES IN ONE INSTALLER 

 Since the beginning SpeechExec came with two installation packages: One global package and one package for the Nordic languages. SpeechExec 10 now allows to select one of the global languages or a Nordic language from the installer window.

Note: the pre-selected language is based on the current operating system language (in the screenshot above this is German). If the operating system language is not one of the SpeechExec languages English will be the default. 
Note: when selecting one of the languages the column headers in the worklist and the dictation properties will be displayed in the selected language and can only be change by reinstalling the software. 
Note: if one of the global languages is selected the Nordic languages cannot be selected as a UI language in SpeechExec later on. Note: if one of the Nordic languages is selected only the Nordic languages + English can be selected as UI language in SpeechExec later on.

 NEW INDUSTRY SELECTION 
It has been a long lasting request, by our customers, to provide less generic and more industry specific dictation properties in SpeechExec. The main target groups of dictation are usually legal and medical environments. While previous SpeechExec additions were only targeting general business we now provide the option to select between three different industries:
  • General Business (Default)
  • Legal
  • Medical
With this set up option users now get target group oriented dictation properties in their work list and in the dictation property editor. E.g. in the legal environment setup the 'Custom' columns 1-4 will display 'File', 'Client name', 'Client number', and 'File reference number'. In the medical environment the the 'Custom' columns 1-5 will display 'Patient name', 'Patient number', 'Age', 'Gender', and 'Insurance number'. 

 Note: for the general business environments the dictation properties have not changed compared to the predecessor versions. 
Note: to further personalize dictation properties please ask us for the 'Dictation property configuration tool'.
Note: this option DOES NOT install any Dragon software neither Dragon Professional, nor Dragon Legal nor Dragon Medical edition software.

 SILENT SETUP OPTION
Many end-users have requested silent setup to distribute SpeechExec over the network. With SpeechExec PRO 10 administrators now have the option to run silent setup of SpeechExec 10 as well as upgrades on the network. 

 Note: a license key can only be used once per workstation. If multi-licenses for silent setup are required please contact us.
Note: Silent setup is not available for SpeechExec Pro with Dragon SDK. More information about how to run silent setup can be found in the administration workbook.

 ENHANCED SPEECH RECOGNITION FEATURES

Note: Dragon 15 Group editions have not been available during the release phase for testing. Therefore these editions are not supported until further notice. 
Note: Dragon Home, Dragon Premium and their predecessor products are not supported with SpeechExec.

 NEW SPEECH RECOGNITION CONFIGURATION OPTIONS 
Since the Dragon SDK does not include the Dragon bar with all Dragon configuration options we had to implement a lot of additional Dragon configurations into SpeechExec e.g.: 

  • Creation of new Dragon profiles
  • Upgrade of old Dragon profiles
  • Selection and management of different dictation sources
  • Option to add new words or phrases
  • Option to open the vocabulary editor
  • Option to import a list of words or phrases
  • Option to learn from specific documents
  • Option to learn from sent emails
  • Option to manage vocabularies
  • Option to create and edit commands and auto texts

 Note: Administrative options that are not available in the user interface can be started up with command line parameters.

 IMPROVED FRONT-END RECORDER 

The SpeechExec 10 recorder now includes additional functions that support the user when working with speech recognition.

 BASIC IMPROVEMENTS 
The SE 10 recorder includes some improvements that help the user to speed up their processes and personalize their way of working: 
 






  • New 'Save as' button … quickly save the content of the recorder window to a word or RTF file. This option can also be used to create and save RTF templates without having to open Microsoft Wordpad
  • New 'Priority' button … quickly set the priority of the dictation
  • New option to change the font color
    •  SPEECH RECOGNITION IMPROVEMENTS 

    With the new speech recognition options users can easily adapt the recognition engine according to their needs. User can add words or commands to their profile and try them out immediately. To enable all these things following improvements have been implemented:
    • A 'Quick commands' panel that displays the most important speech recognition commands to the user in the appropriate language
    • New access to different additional Dragon options like the
      * Dragon Command Browser
      * Dragon Command editor or
      * Dragon Options (with SpeechExec feature set)
      * Dragon auto formatting options
    • New 'Double-click to correct' option immediately opens the Correction menu when double-clicking on a word
    • When the user changes the recognition language with the user profile the UI will be displayed in the selected Dragon language independently from the selected SpeechExec language. Note: in Italian this feature is only partly available, because it is no SpeechExec language.
    EASY SPEECHMIKE TEXT TRANSFER TO OTHER APPLICATIONS 
    We have received several requests that authors have to dictate into other applications from time to time without using the SpeechExec workflow e.g. when they are working late night when no assistant is available anymore. In most of the cases authors just wanted to answer emails in their preferred email client. Looking at the use case we found out that it is very often an advantage to see the email traffic in one window and to answer the email in another window. With SpeechExec 10 this is now possible:
    1. Just dictate into the SpeechExec speech recognition window until you are satisfied with the answer
    2. Then put the email client in focus and click on the '– i –' button on the SpeechMike to quickly transfer the text to the email client.
    3. Voila! The email is finished and can be sent off.
    In our own experience we have seen that this working method is much more efficient than dictating within the email client, because you can scroll navigate in the email window while dictating into the SpeechExec speech recognition recorder window in the background.

     NEW BACK-END SPEECH RECOGNITION OPTIONS
    AUTOMATIC SPEECH RECOGNITION FROM SUB-FOLDERS IN PRO TRANSCRIBE
     
    Several SpeechExec Pro Transcribe customers requested that they be able to automatically start speech recognition with dictations that are placed in sub-folders. SpeechExec 10 now enables to automatically add dictations to the speech recognition queue if they are placed in first level sub-folders of the specified root folder. 

     Note: to avoid potential glitches we had to limit this feature to this first level subfolders only. Additional sub-folders are not supported

     DRAGON LOCAL SPEECH RECOGNITION WITH SPEECHLIVE 
    Until SpeechExec 8.8, it was not possible to start Dragon speech recognition from a SpeechLive folder. This was a limitation if users were dictating with the Philips dictation recorder app or when working with the SpeechLive dictation management upload function. 

     Automatic Back end speech recognition after DPM/SpeechAir download or SpeechExec dictation to SpeechLive folders.

     If the user downloads the dictation and uses SpeechLive as a target folder SpeechExec can now automatically start the speech recognition queue after download. The same is true for digital dictations that have been done with a SpeechMike in SpeechExec. 

     Manual backend speech recognition of dictations in a SpeechLive folder In SpeechExec 10 it is now possible to manually queue-in dictations from a SpeechLive folder into Dragon speech recognition. The dictation will be downloaded, recognized, and uploaded again together with the recognized document into the corresponding SpeechLive folder. 

     Note: for best speech recognition results please always use the unencrypted DSS QP file format (file extension '*.ds2') for digital dictations, or the Speech ADPCM format on the smartphone apps
    Note: please remember that the author name of the dictation has to match with the corresponding Dragon profile name to start speech recognition

     CREATING DRAGON PROFILES WITH THE SPEECHEXEC 'NEW USER WIZARD' 
    The enhanced SpeechExec Pro Dictate 'New user wizard' enables users to create Dragon profiles and syncing the profile name with SpeechExec author profiles name in one shot. The advantage is that users don't have to take care about the synchronization of the SpeechExec author name with the Dragon user profile name, which is a must if backend speech recognition with a DPM or SpeechAir shall be used.

    Note: The 'New user wizard' can be enabled from the ‘General settings >Worklist’. It will start up after a restart of SpeechExec

     VOC TOOL:
    The Voc Tool is a ready to use tool that can analyze documents for unknown words and add words from word lists to a Dragon user profile. It can also adapt the User’s language model and it is recommended to be used when building a custom vocabulary.

     With the release of SpeechExec 10 the support for SpeechExec 7.x will be stopped. Customers who are running SpeechExec 7.x versions can upgrade to SpeechExec 8.8 for free using the same license keys which have been used for version 7. Before uninstalling SpeechExec version 7 please don't forget to revoke the license key from the license server. 

    Note: the support for earlier SpeechExec versions has already been stopped with the release of SpeechExec version 8.
