Nuance Dragon Support tip, How to anchor speech focus while dictating:

Anchoring Speech Focus While Dictating, 

Speech focus allows a user to keep dictating into one application while opening and navigating through other applications. This function does not work with all EHRs. but with most applications it will keep the dictation focus on a hidden application which is not in up front on the screen, or a different web browser tab.

This feature is available with Dragon Cloud Speech recognition system, and applies to the following applications;

Dragon Medical One
Dragon Legal Anywhere
Dragon Professional Anywhere
Dragon Professional Anywhere for Law Enforcement 

Detailed Instructions:

1. Open Dragon Medical One and the target application (the program you are dictating into)

2. Place your cursor where you want your text to be typed

3. Say "anchor speech focus" or press CTRL+ALT+A

4. The microphone icon will change to

5.Begin dictating while you navigate through other applications (ex: PACS)

6.The microphone icon will change to

You can also use the command "What You Can Say"

Anchoring

Control the application that has the speech focus anchored to it.

Anchors the speech focus to an application.

Releases the speech focus from an application.

release speech focus

Brings the application with the speech focus anchored to it to the foreground.

Optional:
To always anchor the speech focus when you dictate, click Anchor the speech focus when recording is started on the General page. Note: this is not the recommended best practice.
