Support Tech Tip: Working with SpeechExec Professional Transcribe Version 10 with Dragon Naturally Speaking SDK and Dragon Profiles; Deploying SpeechExec Version 10 Over Currently Installed 7, 8.

WORKING WITH SPEECHEXEC PRO TRANSCRIBE 10 WITH DNSSDK AND DRAGON PROFILES


Did you know? SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK is delivered without the ability to create Dragon profiles. Although it cannot create Dragon profiles, it can definitely work with them.

To accomplish this, existing supported Dragon profile(s) must be made available to SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK.

SUPPORTED DRAGON PROFILES VERSION 14 OR HIGHER


There are two ways to accomplish this:

1. Via Roaming Profiles:


Configure Speech Recognition Settings for Roaming profiles.

  • Speech recognition > Recognition settings > Use Dragon Roaming > Browse to the location where the Dragon Roaming profiles are stored.
2. Via Local Profiles:

For this option to work, the Dragon profiles must first be copied to the default ‘Local Dragon Profiles’ location.

C:\ProgramData\Nuance\<name_of_Dragon_Edition>\Users

How:

  • Locate the existing Dragon profile(s) either in the Roaming profile location or the Local Dragon profile location C:\ProgramData\Nuance\name_of_Dragon_Edition>\Users
  • Copy the Dragon Profile folders (see above example) to a Network share or thumb drive… somewhere the SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK pc has access to
  • On the pc running SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK copy the Dragon Profile folders to the Local Dragon profiles location C:\ProgramData\Nuance\Name of Dragon Edition\Users
  • Configure Speech Recognition Settings to use local profiles. Speech Recognition | Recognition settings | Use local profiles only

SpeechExec Pro Transribe 10 with DNSSDK is now configured to work with Dragon profiles!

SUPPORTED DRAGON PROFILES VERSION 12 AND 13 


Dragon Profiles created in version 12 or 13 must be upgraded to work with SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK. Failure to upgrade the Dragon Profile will result in dictations being rejected for speech recognition.
Note: Dragon profiles version 11 or lower cannot be upgraded


• Locate the existing Dragon profile(s) either in the Roaming profile location or the Local Dragon profile location C:\ProgramData\Nuance\<name_of_Dragon_Edition>\Users
Caution: Roaming User profiles may contain vocabulary updates from the last dictation session that were not saved in the profile. You cannot upgrade these vocabulary updates until they are saved using your previous version of Dragon. The upgrade .log file contains the names of these user profiles. To preserve vocabulary updates with roaming user profiles, do one of the following before you upgrade:

  • Open and save all roaming user profiles as local profiles.
  • Run the Acoustic and Language Model Optimizer (Train profile) for all roaming profiles.

  • Copy the Dragon Profile folders (see above example) to a folder on a Network share or thumb drive… somewhere the SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK pc has access to
  • Configure Speech Recognition Settings to use local profiles.
    Speech Recognition | Recognition settings | Use local profiles only


The option to “Update old profiles” is not available if “Use Dragon roaming” is selected

  •  Select “Upgrade old profiles”
  • Browse to the folder that contains the “old” Dragon profiles that you wish to upgrade.
  • The upgraded Dragon profiles will be automatically placed in the Dragon profile default location C:\ProgramData\Nuance\<name_of_Dragon_Edition>\Users You may click browse to change to a different location..i.e. a roaming location.

SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 10 with DNSSDK is now configured to work with upgraded Dragon profiles!



DEPLOYING SPEECHEXEC PRO 10 OVER CURRENTLY INSTALLED SPEECHEXEC 7.X, 8.X VERSIONS


Did you know?
Installing SpeechExec PRO 10 will automatically uninstall SpeechExec PRO version 7.x or 8.x.

Please revoke your current 7.x or 8.x license key(s) before installing SpeechExec PRO 10

“How To” steps are for Pro Dictate or Pro Transcribe

  • Launch the Pro software
  • Select [Help] [License information]

You are presented with a list of installed licenses
If you have also installed a Speech recognition license…handle it first

  • Click [Info] for Speech Recognition for…
  • Copy the value displayed for [Product key] to text file for safe-keeping
  • Click [Close] then Click [Revoke] to return your license to the database
  • Click [Info] for SpeechExec Pro
  • Copy the value displayed for [Product key] to text file for safe-keeping
  • Click [Close] then Click [Revoke] to return your license to the database
Close the [License information] dialog
Exit the SpeechExec software [File | Exit]
You are now ready to install SpeechExec PRO 10 product

When you run the Install wizard of a SpeechExec PRO 10 product, it will check for an existing PRODUCTKEY in the local registry and display the KEY.

If the existing SpeechExec product is PRO Dictate 7.x or 8.x

  • Please delete the old product key from the edit box and provide a FULL SpeechExec PRO Dictate 10 product key or click the [Use Demo Key] button for a 30 day trial.
  • Failure to remove the existing Product key from the edit box will generate the error “Invalid product key” when you click [Next]!

If the existing SpeechExec product is PRO Transcribe 7.x or 8.x

  • Please delete the old product key from the edit box and provide a FULL SpeechExec PRO Transcribe 10 product key or click the [Use Demo Key] button for a 30 day trial.
  • Failure to remove the existing Product key from the edit box will generate the error “Invalid product key” when you click [Next]!


Note: Installation of SpeechExec 10 is not supported on computers that are running SpeechExec versions 4.x, 5.x, or 6.x. These versions are no longer supported.
